Having a motor bolted to the bottom of a mountain bike that provides pedal assistance is an amazing leveller. The constant torque it applies to the chain rounds out the squarest of pedalling actions, which in turn helps stabilizes the rear suspension and counter pedal induced bob, seamlessly shifting your focus from pedalling efficiency to battery life.
I haven't quite figured the brakes out yet. The back brake has a lot of rubbing on one brake pad (outboard). I've gone through YouTube and have done everything short of taking the brake pads out and adjusting the springs. Not sure what I'm going to do about it yet. Disk brakes work great though. I do have some annoying squealing but it is probably on me for not having it adjusted right.
Unlike other hunting bikes, the Juggernaut comes equipped with both a twist throttle (most have thumb throttles) and a pedal-assist feature. However, if you’re ready to commit to the cargo bike life, you’ll struggle to find a stronger platform for achieving bike commuter nirvana.

It is worth mentioning that our tester felt that he worked a little harder while range testing the Rocky Mountain than the other bikes we tested. The Giant wasn't far behind at 19.02 miles and 4,000 vertical feet, and the YT Decoy almost tied that with 19.01 miles and 4,039 vertical feet. The Specialized was nipping at their heels with 18.71 miles and 3,949 feet. The Ghost Hybride SL AMR was the least impressive with a range of just 16.75 miles and 3,559 vertical feet. The outlier in this comparison is the Bulls E-Stream with a 650Wh battery. We were not able to test the Bulls directly against these other competitors, but we did notice that you can ride it significantly farther than any of these other contenders. During one of our test rides, we rode the Bulls 24 miles and 4,500 vertical feet, and the battery still wasn't depleted. More battery storage equals longer rides; it's just that simple.

E-bikes mostly use motors and battery options from a few major suppliers: Bosch, Yamaha, Shimano, and Brose. A few other brands exist, but are less reliable or powerful. Some, like the Yamaha system, have more torque, and others, like Bosch’s Active Line, are nearly silent. But, generally, all four make good options. Look for motor output (in torque), which will give you an idea of total power. Just like car engines, more torque equals more power off the line and more boost to your pedaling. But watt hours (Wh) is perhaps a more important figure to use—it takes into account battery output and life to give a more accurate reflection of power (higher Wh equals bigger range).
I received my ALL TERRAIN 750 right before my month long Colorado archery deer and elk hunt. I was able to quietly get in to places in 15 minutes that used to take me over an hour to hike in! It is important to note that the less power output you use while riding your e-bike, the longer the battery will last, makes sense right? All of the pedal-assist drive units we tested also have smartphone apps that can be used to customize your support settings and such changes may allow for more or less range on your electric mountain bike. Specialized's Mission Control app has a feature that lets you set a predetermined route, and the app then regulates the motor's support to ensure power lasts to finish your ride.
But are e-bikes really that expensive? Well, even though the initial cost of an e-bike can seem high, it pays off in the long run.  Purchase cost is a little more than a conventional bike, but mechanical wear and tear is about the same so the price of maintenance is low, and electricity is so cheap as to be largely irrelevant. If you use e-bike to commute instead of a car, the bike will practically pay itself with the savings on fuel. Besides, electric bikes have a high conversion value; they are technology that people want and can’t always afford new, so people are always on the lookout for a second hand electric bike. The unit system is likely to have several options to choose various levels of pedal assistance, which is between 25% and 100% of the pedaling input of the rider. The drive system is most likely to have a smartphone app with features to control various settings including setting up the engine’s support settings, modifying the controls according to the rider’s preference, monitoring the health and charge status of the battery, and more functions.
Testers found the Rocky Mountain Instinct Powerplay to perform relatively well on the climbs. The Decoy still climbs relatively well, but testers found the low bottom bracket height made it more prone to pedal strikes than other competitors. Our least favorite bike on the climbs was the Ghost Hybride SL AMR. The Ghost has solid geometry numbers, but the pedal assistance felt less powerful and was definitely less consistent than the competition.
The bikes we tested all use a different e-bike motor system, and the controls, the primary user interface, are an important element we rated but didn't weight as heavily as some of the others. Each motor system and its associated controls are slightly different. Our primary interest is in how user-friendly is it to interact with the system, how intuitive and ergonomic are the shifters, how good and easy to read is the display, and how easy is it to charge the battery? Each drive system also has a smartphone app that is intended to allow the user to fine-tune the motor's support settings, create custom settings, monitor battery charge and health, and a whole lot more. We don't feel the apps are necessary for the use of any of these e-MTB's, but those with an affinity for technology or personalizing your ride may be inclined to use them.

Boasting incredible speeds of up to 17 mph and dependable geometry and stability, the Goplus electric mountain bike is one to die for. It is built to be lightweight yet durable, thanks to a dependable aluminum alloy frame. Among other features that are worth mentioning in this electric mountain bike includes its 6-speed transmission system, powerful LED headlamp and sharp hydraulic brakes.
The Bulls motor is claimed to have 90Nm of torque, but it was so smooth and quiet that it didn't feel outrageously powerful. The assistance came on smooth and strong thanks to the belt-driven system. The Rocky Mountain Instinct Powerplay Alloy 50 uses a drive system that claims to have up to 108Nm of torque. While their system felt quite powerful, it didn't feel stronger than the Bulls, and we noticed that it seemed to modulate its output in a way that the others didn't. The Rocky Mountain makes you work for it a little more than the rest. The Trek, Giant, and the Specialized motor systems felt slightly less powerful, still offering plenty of pedal-assist support mind you, but that also resulted in efficient motors and longer distance ranges than the models with more brute power. Despite having the same Shimano Steps E8000 pedal-assist motor, the Ghost felt less powerful than the YT Decoy. The YT felt as if it delivered more power more consistently and smoothly than the Ghost could.
Everything arrived in perfect condition with minimal assembly. It took a moment to figure out where the headlight goes, and the rear reflector has a bike-seat (not a frame) mount, but I didn't even need the instructions. (Good thing, because the "instructions" suck. Find a video instead.) That said, if you buy this, pay attention: as others have noted, the front disc brake will be on your LEFT side when you're done (the fork is reversed for packaging purposes).

now whether it be motors or geometry or indeed componentry so many lessons have been learned in the world of a mountain by again since his birth back in what 2012 something like that what about the human element of it all I've learnt so much along the way so today we're gonna be showing you guys our top five lessons learned [Music] now I've heard of a lot of lessons that Chris Smith has learnt in his long bank to buy career no more so than he'd broken back broken neck broken arm broken leg broken ankle broken wrists Matt's been done it's been done for Chris but come on take us away take us to the list of your top lessons learned on an email Mike well I think when I first started out my biggest mistake was in turbo or boost mode everywhere I didn't learn about eco in the art of eco get the most out of battery after you go would you believe it yes again the most of that and doing you know riding more trails still at a good pace I'm taking that that is your number five that's number five number four add maintenance getting back after a ride maybe a night ride sticking the bike in the shed expecting it work don't just know you don't expect it to work like clockwork the next time you get on it I think if you have to do one little bit of maintenance chain maintenance degrease and a lube is the one for Evite's digital wrong kit so rat wearing the wrong kit on this big rides I didn't used to really do massive rides I wasn't a big fan of wearing shammies and short liners and things like that and even chamois butter you heard that right well I did see you had a type of chamois butter on that trip to Mont Blanc which unfortunately you got along but yeah definitely chamois on an e-bike chamois NC common and even like big waterproof jackets in those horrible weather eyes then you got you know a lot of adverse weather on the ebike and then I think the higher pressure its suspension so I can from slopestyle and freeride and we were just like 80 psi in the tires max a shock set ends you know 350 psi on the shocks and nearly they looked like a suspension fork but actually didn't do a job so getting the right tire pressures and suspensions and ask you question but you still do a huge range ride and you do still do free ride riding I still drag you around trial sections do you still have huge sigh pressures yeah I still run you like big jumps 40 psi stuff so we still don't quite like that right I think so but it's just for those big jumps you do need those bigger tire pressures but I was sometimes plus 40 psi and it's just like riding a rock down the hill come on let's have you what is your number one lesson learned I think investing in a second batch is one of my best things that I've learned it just opens up the doors to actually what an e-bike is for you can write it hundreds of kilometres you can turn up the turbo boost you name it whichever power mode you want sometimes you know you know be restricted by keeping an eco all day you can just open up the doors and let it go don't have to stick in your backpack you can put it in your car just ride your bike all day long without range anxiety range anxiety open up the doors and letting it go one thing what is this was the lesson learned there have you been stranded on any bike I have written any bike flat and it's not a lot of fun as I'm sure you have to mm-hmm now Steve you've been riding for a few years - yeah well I'm gonna give you a next to it I'm gonna give you six not sighs I think number six on the list has got to be heart rate monitor because it just keeps you honest I think you see honest on your eyes you can keep it keep track of your of your rides you've been doing and then just go out harder next time just make sure you keep you fitness up like this my number six yeah number five I think has got to be and not knowing your your range which comes back to the you range anxiety yeah but I know exactly that on a semi water of actually I can do about five thousand feet of climbing but we're all different because when I did tour Mont Blanc and if I told you at the tormal block not hurt the Fabri sorrow to me he was fifty kilograms and he he was able to do ten thousand feet of climbing on one battery so get it to know those figures is really is a key part of from the most important part of you display I think number four has got to be China well you need just discovered that this year really is the nectar of email and biking yeah and then three and two Nestle to all but numbers now sizing is very important on a mounted bike because I'm sure you've heard it a zillion times getting that balance between the weight and the front of your bike and the weighting on the rear of your bike is very critical in terms of climbing and also descending yeah and number two has got to be chain stays and geometry mm-hmm making that short back end or along back end can make big differences it's all about I think the ebike world is still like manufacturers are still kind of zoning in on a sweet spot but it's not just what the chain stays but the bond bracket and the wheel base and getting that balance between the two and you're number one Steve come on hit me with it well I have to say that I've had the pleasure of running some of the world's best man buckets Sam Hill Lika varsity peaked fobian Burrell and to ride with people who can really really righty man bikes now I know you can you're the man when it comes to jumps and stuff like that but the likes of Nico vouilloz and Fabian brow on ebikes they they really opened my eyes to think in what sport holy now that is something really special there's something really really special and and to get a chance to go and ride with a rider who is better than you will definitely progress you're riding no end so they are there are mine Chris's top five top five lessons learned what were your lessons learned which what's your most important ones since you've been a mountain
