E-enduro bikes aren’t as different to regular bikes as one might imagine. All of the fundamentals are the same and by nailing the geometry and sizing Vitus has produced an amazing e-bike with the E-Sommet VR.Sure there are a couple of little things we’d probably change, like the STEPS Di2 mode shifter and rear tyre, but that’s about it. And given how much cheaper the Vitus is compared to the competition, you can easily afford to make these changes and even buy a spare battery. The E-Sommet VR is no golf buggy, but Vitus has it’s certainly hit a hole in one with this bike.


Ancheer Electric Mountain Bike - Before this test we thought more travel on an e-bike would obviously be better. After all, with the motor flattening out the climbs, why not have the extra suspension firepower to smooth out the descents? Sounds reasonable, doesn’t it? But in the case of the Specialized Turbo Kenevo Expert, the extra travel and weight make the bike less effective and less engaging on all but full-on downhill tracks. And if that’s your bread and butter, the Kenevo could well be the perfect topping. Here in the UK though, the Vitus proved more versatile, just as capable and way better value.
The suspension works, but there isn’t any true dampening. That means you’re just riding around on springs. On a real full suspension e-bike (i.e. a few thousand dollars) you get actual oil-dampened shocks. Those absorb bumps and dampen the shock. With springs, the bike bounces a few times after bumps, with the energy dissipating through the spring stretching and compressing.

Amazing bike, quick. On the flat average 21mph full power, after 3-4 miles average 18mph. A lot of hills in SoCal so this 1/3 hp motor does it’s job well with pedal assist on very steep grades. With electric only mode and heavy, steep, long hills this bike does its job pushing through a 16 mile commute with some energy to spare with a 190lb load of me and my gear. This bike could do much more with flat and pedal assist modes maybe twice as far. Recommend you use smaller tires 1.75 vs the standard 1.95 to achieve my results. Continental contact travels work great!

I’m sat here absolutely knackered after being out this morning for a 3hr session round my local trails, including some much needed trail work which is quite amusing as i tend to stumble and fall on my arse quite a lot but over the past month i have managed to clear pretty much all of my old trails with the aid of a flask of tea, quality tunes on my jambox speaker along with my rake, mini shovel and Silky Zubat saw – I’ve managed to regain that totally exhausted feeling you get at the end of a days riding n” trail grooming so i’m a very happy bunny indeed! – albeit sitting here with aches n’ pains that make me wince if i reach for anything but i wouldn’t have it any other way.


The fit is a little rough for me. I'm tall, about 73 inches, and I feel like the bike is small. I've ridden a few dozen miles to include a trip with a kids trailer towed behind, and it hasn't been really uncomfortable, but a little cramped compared to my Schwinn Trailway 28"/700c hybrid bike. Seat adjusts up but feels tilted back a little more than I would like. I have ridden in shorts and tshirt to the beach as well as khakis and a button up with backpack to work, ok comfort both ways. Perhaps it will just take some time to get used to.

Had my Ancheer Electric Mountain Bike for nearly 2 months now and covered 500 miles. A lovely bike to ride, and not had a single problem until now. Overall I love this bike and find pleasure in riding it. Get your cadence right and its a great ride. The more effort you put in, the more the battery will help you, everything seems easier on this ebike compared to my old normal bike. 


Big Bird, you make some great points. One. Where is the line drawn between electric bike and motorcycle. Two. It would allow those who might not be able to enjoy the outdoors mobility. In my opinion I feel electric bikes lean more to the motorcycle side of things. Don't get me wrong, I ride and share certain trails with motos, however not all trails are open to them. Here is where I see the potential for conflict among other user groups with electric bikes. That being said your idea for stickers for the disabled seems to make sense. So now the question is, electric bike or electric motorcycle? How is it defined?

I have the e-bike tuning kit for my Bosch Performance CX motor but i’ve not bothered to fit it yet, before i got the bike i thought that Yeah!, fit the kit and go ride but i’m unsure now – after having the bike for a month i’m quite happy with it as it is, obviously the increased speed will reduce the distance i can travel due to using more battery power and i kinda like the ability to do decent distances/ride all day at the moment.

What i’d really like is the ability to custom tune the standard speed settings with regard to the torque curve/output and perhaps have a top speed of 18mph or thereabouts, back when i could ride a normal bike under my own steam there were some sections of my local trails where i could easily maintain 20mph+ through the single track (allowing for acceleration out of the corners) as it was on a slight fall line. It’s all brain-farts at the moment so the tuning kit is still in my toolbox and it may stay in there.

So first off comments I'll have just announced two new ebikes the meta power 29 and the meta power SX which is more of a downhill orientated bike and they look sweet man they look so so good with the new Shimano internal battery now take a look at this this first one is the meta power 29 what comments all have done is they've fully integrated the Shimano battery into the frame they've totally redesigned the rear chain stay as well so it's not just a an internal design of their last meta power which was really really really good bike

I've had the eBike for about a week now and figure it is time to post my impressions. Overall, I am satisfied with the bike, especially based on the price. It has not been without hiccups (see below) but after quite a bit of research online I am convinced for the price, nothing out there will compare. Not five stars based on a few pending issues which will hopefully be resolved. It is not perfect. I have no idea if the more expensive bikes are "perfect", though. I've spent some good time tinkering on this bike making adjustments so far, but that's normal for any new bike.

The extra grip a 50lb e-bike normally helps to prevent overshooting corners when on the brakes, and bring pure DH-bike-like fun factor on the steepest trails. This electric Orange, however, rides more like a ‘standard’ enduro bike with a motor, which could be good or bad, depending on your expectations and riding style. It’s built tough and delivers stacks of fun in less time than any regular bike can. Adding a motor hasn’t upset Orange’s superb geometry.
I was up at Aviemore last September and borrowed the Ancheer from Bothy Bikes and within an hr i returned to the shop with a stupid goofy grin on my face and ordered the Scott E-Genuis 710+, i had to wait 4 months till they were released but David got me one of the first to arrive and i drove up to collect it the following week, i’ve not regretted buying it for one second 😀 .
Everything arrived in perfect condition with minimal assembly. It took a moment to figure out where the headlight goes, and the rear reflector has a bike-seat (not a frame) mount, but I didn't even need the instructions. (Good thing, because the "instructions" suck. Find a video instead.) That said, if you buy this, pay attention: as others have noted, the front disc brake will be on your LEFT side when you're done (the fork is reversed for packaging purposes).

It has a wide range of features, is very easy to use and comes mostly assembled. The ability to fold it down for easy transport and storage just adds to the versatility and practicality that the bike already has. Ancheer are also said to have a great customer service team if there are any problems. Best of all you get all of this for way less than a $1000. Most quality e-bikes now a days will easily set you back $1000, sometimes several times more.

this is brick brick loves everything about mountain biking he lives in the world-famous riding destination of Squamish just to be closer to the trails and after only riding the Whistler Bike Park for years he realized that a bike that could pedal up would mean more access to trails and he likes nothing better than ripping down a nice flow trail [Music] but there's one thing that brig doesn't like and he's not the only one in order to get to these amazing girls you've got to earn your turns and well brick doesn't like that part now here's the thing brick isn't a lazy dude he works long hours at the dock on tugboats and in his spare time he's always hiking in the gym or just being in the outdoors so by the time it's time to ride he's already a hurting now this what it's like doing a climbing trail with brick especially when it's time to ride with me someone that rides regularly and doesn't have a problem going uphill when you're pedaling up with brigh with no warning he'll just jump straight off his bike and start walking already he's convinced that walking is just as fast as riding but I would argue that's not true do you think you can walk faster than you could bikers outdate you I mean right now it's not popping the truth technically speaking he has no problem getting out of tricky sections but when the legs start to burn he's off and he's walking again hi bud oh I'll jump in front for a bit the downside of all this is that when I or others start riding up we are often left waiting for brigh to catch up at the top all right this is very going to wait break Rosie yes we're going this way how you feeling now this isn't a video about how much better I am of pedaling up a hill compared to my buddy it's a video about looking at ways that would make it more fun and to ride together because really it's Briggs that gets annoyed about being left behind not me the best thing about riding with him though is that he loves a float and is well way better than me right bike around a parking lot for about you know 30 to 45 seconds one time those dark wasn't wearing proper clothing don't even think I had a helmet on like any other shop demo they swapped over bricks pedals while he watched on and got him set up on the bike they set up the suspension and made sure brick knew what he was doing with the motor controls and then we would head up to a different area of Squamish and hit up a trail that's a little bit more technical than before gonna make you walking even easier the strap doesn't fit don't know much to do well there's no meant to be shut I guess there's no amendable show we headed up to do one of our favourite laps that would normally take us way longer than normal I'm sure you know what's about oh my god they say be careful what you wish for and I wish there pretty good pedal faster and now I'm gonna eat my words I feel I've never seen you go up this little climb damage now you're waiting for me how does that feel good I want to see if you can help me as well on a harness or shoulder if you can pull me along go back hey come back on the tow I was wondering what would happen on these wet and narrow bridges I mean probably hoping for some carnage but no he rode straight over them no problem this is the 50 shade how many times have you pedaled up there non-stop yeah okay just hook context this climb is a little steep and he would normally walk up the whole thing this made the whole ride take longer but now I have a rider that I can chase and pushes me to go faster up the hill but again you knew this would happen I knew this would happen what I wanted to find out was how Briggs felt about it it was obviously easier was it more was it more enjoyable you feel kinds of weird guilt or ever learn any bike no some people think it's cheating you're not racing there we go we were having more fun that's all we want to but what about the doubts will he be able to ride the same going down a trail as before we dropped into the he never wants to do rollercoaster which is awesome and by the way and there's a lot of time waiting at the bottom for him to catch up because it's such a Pedley trail no way over you its point this is something that annoys brick but here we are having a whale of a time now [Music] the demo was over break headed back to Republic to tell them how he got on like Paul and then anything above that is just like ridiculous it's I don't feel bad climb for me right you know I can climb not nearly as well as somebody like Paul so we go out riding on a pedal bike and you know it just blows me out of the water he's constantly waiting for me stopping and waiting and then you caught me on a bike there's just like these turns the tables now use waiting basically yeah it's really annoying good it's a little different like you know a couple times you went to pedal and I forgot that the bike was gonna give me power right so all the way down to are usually just an eco obviously any more than eco on the way down is just like you know even climbing I left it an eco most of the time I only bought the one bar battery down you know piggy buy one now you got 7,000 bucks you know what I have three bikes maybe I just sell them all on buy one yeah would you add video if I got top dollar for all three of my bikes got what I paid for them sure yeah it's just that he's just to find out into a thing money makes the world go round my friend fifteen hundred dollar bike work your bag off seven thousand dollar bike go and have a good time before I bought this bike I only had a downhill bike and I kind of felt left out you know Paul's a bike park it is limited yeah but with an e-bike it's like hey you want to ride to the top of the world I don't have to put the effort in there you go so if you factor in saving on some bike part yeah I never thought about that you don't need to tell me the e bikes is something that not everyone is found I'm up to speed with the land access issues that a problem for Americans and other mountain bike areas but for me and break this e bike could mean we could ride together and both of us would have the same amount of good times and probably go on more
